Your data, your phone.
The short version
Putt Break does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything happens on your device. There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no advertising. The longer version below explains the same thing in detail required by Apple's App Store policies.
What this app does
Putt Break is an iOS app that uses the LiDAR sensor and camera on supported iPhone Pro devices to measure the slope of the ground in front of you. It is intended as a learning aid for golfers. The app runs entirely on your device.
What we collect
Nothing. Putt Break does not collect any personal data, usage data, or analytics. We do not have a server. We do not have a database of users. We do not know who you are, where you are, or how often you use the app.
What stays on your device
- Camera and LiDAR data — used in real time to compute slope readings. Never recorded, never saved, never sent anywhere. Discarded the moment you close the app.
- Slope readings — computed and displayed in real time. Not stored unless you choose to save them as photos.
- Captured photos — when you tap the shutter button, the app saves an image of the camera view with slope readings overlaid to your iPhone's Photos app. These photos are stored only on your device (or wherever your iCloud Photos backs up to). Putt Break has no access to them after saving.
- App settings — your hole-direction preference, F-reticle position, and tutorial-seen flag are stored in iOS UserDefaults on your device. Never transmitted.
Permissions we request
Camera: Required. The app cannot function without camera access since it depends on the LiDAR sensor and camera feed for slope measurement.
Photos (Add Only): Optional. Only requested when you first tap the shutter button. Used solely to save your captured slope readings to your Photos library. The app cannot read or access any other photos.
Third parties
Putt Break does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or social media SDKs.
The only third party involved is Apple, which provides the iOS frameworks (ARKit, RealityKit, Photos) that the app uses. Apple's data practices are governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Children's privacy
Putt Break is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone of any age, since we do not collect data at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Significant changes will be announced via the app's release notes on the App Store.
